Peruvian style Ceviche: lemon juice-marinated white fish with slices of sweet peppers and onions. Served cold with sweet corn, camote and an Ají hot sauce. Ají is an orange-colored Peruvian-bred chili that is extremely hot and superbly flavorful. Enjoy sparingly. Camote is an indigenous starchy-filled root (l.batata) equal in taste to yellow sweet potato only white in color.

Ceviche al estilo Peruano: pescado cocido en jugo de limón con chile dulce y cebollas. Servido con elote dulce, camote y una salsa de ají picante. Ají es un chile crecido en Perú, muy picante, pero con un sabor extraordinario. El camote es endémico (l.batata) y es como una papa dulce.

Papaya Garden Salad:
crisp lettuces, crunchy vegetables, sweet papaya, local cheese and toasted marañón nuts, served with our homemade papaya seed dressing. Marañón is known by most of the world as the cashew. Native to Costa Rica the small evergreen-and-red cashew tree has both nut and fruit, with its kidney-shaped nut clinging outside, under the pear-like fruit. The soft fruit is commonly used to make frescos, a liquefied fruit drink.

Ensalada Verde con Papaya ~ Lechuga fresca, vegetales crujientes, papaya dulce, queso local y semillas de marañón tostadas servidas con nuestra salsa casera de semillas de papaya. El árbol verde y rojo de marañón tiene una fruta en forma de pera con una semilla, en forma de riñón, que crece como una apéndice de la fruta, y se exporta a nivel mundial. El fruto es muy popular en fresco.

Tropical Shrimp Coconut Curry: jumbo shrimp in a mild coconut curry sauce, served with steamed rice and garnishes of diced pineapple, bananas, cucumbers, peanuts and papaya.

Curry Tropical de Camarones: Camarones jumbo en una liviana salsa de curry con coco. Servida con pedacitos de piña, pepinos, bananos y papaya en cubitos y maní.

Chicken or Fish Palmito: a choice of tender chicken breast or fish of the day, grilled and served with a cilantro cream sauce with sautéed fresh locally grown palm hearts (palmitos) and roasted marinated sweet red chilies. Served with squash gratin and steamed vegetables. Palmito, comes from the Osa-endemic B.gasipaes palm called Pejibaye. It produces both palm hearts and date-like cluster pejibaye fruits prized for their high vitamins and minerals.

Pollo o pescado “al Palmito” ~ su opción de pechuga de pollo o pescado del día, asado, con una salsa cremosa de culantro y palmito fresco salteado y chile dulce marinado. Servido con ayote gratinado y verduras hervidas. El Palmito viene de la palmera endémica a la Osa Península (B.gasipaes) que se llama Pejibaye. Produce palmito y frutas pequeñas llenas de vitaminas y minerales.

Platos fuertes previamente mencionadas acompañados con arroz blanco y panecillos de semillas de amapola hechos en casa.

Vegetarian Coconut Curry: sweet potato-like camote, green plantain chunks and chayote are simmered in an exotic curry sauce and served with white rice. Garnishes include diced fresh pineapple, bananas, peanuts, cucumbers and sweet papaya. Chayote, a vine-grown squash-like gourd, and golden papaya, a large green-skinned fruit from a tree-like arboreal herb, are native to the area. Originally from India, starchy plantains now grow worldwide in the tropics.

Curry de coco y legumbres: una combinación de camote, chayote y plátanos verdes cocidos en una exótica salsa de curry hecha a base de coco. Servida con arroz y trocitos de piña, banano, pepino y papaya y maní. El Chayote, que crece en una enredadera y parece una calabaza y la papaya dorada, una fruta larga y de cáscara verde, son nativos de la zona. Originalmente de la India, los plátanos ahora crecen en todos los lugares del trópico.

Lapa Rios “Mud” Cake: rich with chocolate and bananas; served warm on a passion fruit-butter sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Queque de Barro de Lapa Rios:
enriquecido con chocolate y banano, servido caliente sobre una salsa de maracuyá y mantequilla y helado de vainilla.

Pineapple Banana flambé:
Chunks of fresh pineapple caramelized with bananas and rum. Served over vanilla ice cream.

Flambé de piña y banano:
trozos de piña caramelizada con bananos y ron, servido sobre helado de vainilla.
