Another couple of honeymooners delighted with our experience here at Lapa Rios. The staff was so wonderful, they were more like a group of friends, and we were excited to see each day. We will miss them.
We released baby sea turtles, went horseback riding, hiked the medicine & ridge trails and flew to Corcovado to hike and canoe with William – and loved every minute of it. Otherwise we could be found laying around the pool… Our expectations were far exceeded. We feel lucky to have experienced this place. PURA VIDA.

Today is a sad day because we must leave Lapa Rios and return to reality. How beautiful this place is, not just the place but the people who work here, too. There aren’t words to explain the feeling this place gives me. We started our lives together as husband and wife last week and journeyed to Costa Rica to start and make memories. From the Macaws flying by the lodge and spider monkeys throwing things at us on the Osa Trail, to horseback riding on the beach to catching six yellow fin tunas and a sailfish weighing 100 pounds. Just amazing!!! We will be telling stories of our honeymoon to our grandchildren. Perhaps someday we will bring our children here so they can learn and experience the beauty of Mother Nature.
Thank you to all the staff at Lapa Rios who made all of this possible. You have a lot to be proud of. It is hard to imagine that many of you did not even speak English before you came to Lapa Rios. Traveling will never be the same after our experience here.

“Matt and I knew we would have a wonderful honeymoon when we chose Lapa Rios as the location. Our expectations were met and exceeded. The location is as beautiful as I remembered it from when I first visited in 1992, during the construction phase. But this time we saw even more animals and learned more about them thanks to the excellent guides. We will always have beautiful memories to treasure”.

“What a wonderful honeymoon we had! So many sights and sounds. On Wednesday we went on the Osa hike with Dilber and watched the squirrel monkeys, toucans, ants and many others. That night Luis, the bartender, made a grasshopper for my kitchen. On Thursday we ventured with some other guests to Corcovado with Felipe as our guide. We totally recommend taking the trip to Corcovado! It was so amazing to see a tapir, and I hope my picture comes out because it is the coolest. On Friday, we went horseback riding and sea kayaking (I got seasick L ) While kayaking we saw a sea turtle and took pictures of Lapa Rios from the kayaks. On Saturday, we decided to venture out on our own hike to the waterfalls.
We had the best time watching the spider monkeys and toucans. We love the staff and nature of Lapa Rios. We wish all the students at the Carbonera School much success. Wonderful honeymoon!!!”

“Thank you all the Lapa Rios staff for a spectacular honeymoon! We enjoyed the wonder of a rainforest, the food, but most importantly our interactions with the Ticos – what a friendly and inviting people you are! Oh, and we can’t wait for the Lapa Rios cookbook!

Thank you so much! Our stay at Lapa Rios was like a dream come true – a perfect honeymoon spot! We loved the food and fresh juices. The informative tours, and showing us a lot of animals and plants. We really enjoyed visiting the school and meeting some of the children.
You are to be commended for starting such a wonderful project. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful place! Pura vida!”

Oh Lapa Rios? my favorite place in the world. Such sweet memories from my trip 7 years ago, but coming back for our honeymoon is super sweet. Matt finally understands my ranting and ravings over this place. The service is always top notch and it was great to see some familiar faces. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful honeymoon vacation.

PS: The food is to die for. Thank goodness the honeymoon is after the wedding or I would not have fit into my dress.
