Vaccine Entry Requirements

Böëna Wilderness Lodges will require proof of complete vaccination scheme at the moment of check in for all guests over the age of 18.

 

What does fully vaccinated mean in Costa Rica?  

Fully vaccinated is recognized as the total number of doses for each vaccine indicated by the pharmaceutical company, with the final dose having been applied at least 14 days prior to entry. The indicated doses for each vaccine are:  

a. AstraZeneca/Oxford: 2-dose series  

b. Pfizer-BioNTech: 2-dose series  

c. Moderna: 2-dose series  

d. Janssen (Johnson & Johnson): single dose  

e. Sinovac-CoronaVac: 2-dose series  

f. Sinopharm: 2-dose series  

g. Covaxin: 2-dose series  

 
Are there exceptions to this new requirement? 
Yes. The following exceptions have been outlined for commercial establishments:
 a. Individuals aged 18 and younger are not required to present proof of vaccination. 
 b. Individuals with a duly accredited medical condition that prevents them from being vaccinated are not required to present proof of vaccination. They must attach their medical report (in English or in Spanish) to the Health Pass that they complete as a requirement to enter Costa Rica. 
 
Can vaccinated guests present their foreign vaccination card? 
No. After completing the Health Pass to enter Costa Rica, tourist will be issued a QR Code supporting their complete vaccination schedule. This QR Code will be required at check-in for Pacuare Lodge, Lapa Rios, Monteverde Lodge & Gardens and Tortuga Lodge and Gardens.
