Piro Ranch & Nature Reserve
Meet one of the original families and earliest conservation voices of Piro Village during this interactive half-day outing.
The trip begins with a 20-minute drive from Lapa Rios to Piro Ranch, a property that has belonged to the Sánchez family for over 150 years.
The ranch and its private reserve span 50 hectares of primary and secondary forest, crossed by the crystalline Piro River. Miguel Sánchez and his family have dedicated their lives to protecting this land, which serves as a home and resting place for many species.
A Family Legacy in the Osa
During the visit, you can choose from several trails, the longest about 2.5 miles and ending at a river pool perfect for a refreshing dip.
Trails vary in length, with the shortest at 0.1 miles, and offer different perspectives of the forest and chances to spot birds and wildlife, including toucans, Great Curassow, and monkeys.
The experience concludes with a traditional lunch shared with the family and your guide, offering time to hear their story and learn about life in the Osa Peninsula.
