OSA PENINSULA
Join your fellow birders and naturalist guide at the restaurant deck at 6 a.m. for a spectacular sunrise, coffee, a light snack, and a briefing about the upcoming activity. The tour begins with a short drive through the countryside while keeping a lookout for birds, vivid morpho butterflies, and wildlife. The trail is set in a quiet location near the ocean with open pastures, a stream, and primary and secondary forests. The availability of several diverse ecosystems in one place gives guests a rare opportunity to spot a range of tropical bird species in multiple habitats. High-quality binoculars and spotting scopes are on hand to enrich the experience. Scarlet macaws, toucans, woodpeckers, kingfishers, parrots, and king vultures are but a few of the resident bird species often sighted and who share the treetops with monkeys, sloths, iguanas, and other creatures. A Lapa Rios favorite among animal lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and amateur and experienced birders alike.
