Introducing the New Lapa Rios Guide School for Guests

How well do you know your nature?  Could you identify toucan calls amongst the jungle chorus?  How about distinguishing your squirrel from your spider monkeys?  Do you know your medicinal flora and your venomous fauna?  If not, you soon could.  In just a few months, Lapa Rios will be bringing you the chance to officially tap into the vast knowledge of our four naturalist guides.  An opportunity to sharpen up your eyes, to fine tune your ears, and to experience the rainforest from a new perspective.

Do you know your squirrel from your spider monkeys?

Introducing the Lapa Rios Guide School

Launching in May, we invite all budding biologists, long-time wildlife lovers and major David Attenborough fans to enroll in the new 5-night Lapa Rios Guide School program, designed as a hands-on introduction to the essentials of nature guiding.  Pooling their cumulative experience of almost 50 years, our expert guides will take program participants on an immersive journey through our network of rainforest trails, out into the local community, and deep into the philosophies behind Lapa Rios-style nature guiding.

LAPA RIOS GUIDE SCHOOL

With such abundant wildlife at Lapa Rios, there are myriad opportunities to perfect your guiding techniques

Highlights of the Guide School program will include guest favorites like early morning birdwatching and the famous night walk.  With over 300 bird species to observe around the reserve and plenty of other iconic jungle dwellers, guides in the making will have myriad opportunities to put their newly-acquired wildlife-spotting skills to good practice.  Guided rainforest hikes will be complemented by expert talks on Osa Peninsula biodiversity and conservation, dedicated classes on popular wildlife photography techniques, and by visits to inspiring residents in the neighboring areas.

BIODIVERSITY

Become an expert sloth-spotter at the Lapa Rios Guide School

Sound full-on?  Not at all.  We like our budding guides to be well-rested and well-fed, so we’ve incorporated plenty of time for pura vida relaxation and rainforest fine dining.  In between sloth-spotting and digiscoping, it’s all about hammock chilling, yoga classes and even some beachfront snoozing.

Are you ready to become the Osa Peninsula’s Next Top Guide?
