Wild Waterfalls Hike

OSA PENINSULA

Discover Costa Rica’s most splendid natural treasures, its waterfalls, during this unforgettable rainforest river hike. Participants will meet at the Guide Hut at approximately 9:15 a.m. for a short briefing about the day’s activities and required precautions for traversing the Rio Abajo and Carboneras rivers. The hike winds through mountainous secondary and primary rainforests and along two riverbeds, which requires navigating slippery and rocky terrain and some river crossings en route to two spectacular waterfalls. The Osa’s rainforest river ecosystems provide a fascinating opportunity to observe endemic species of frogs, reptiles, waterfowl, and other creatures. Participants are welcome to bathe in the cool waters of the popular Carboneras River and Waterfall before the uphill hike back to the Lodge. Rubber boots and walking sticks are highly recommended.
